Much ado about probiotics

Probiotics are no doubt very useful in maintaining the normal gut flora, but the high claims of companies producing such probiotic supplements may be just much ado about nothing. They claim that probiotics offer health benefits like protection against colon cancer and numerous other disorders. But these claims are yet to be clinically validated. Moreover, one has to take these supplements constantly to keep the flora “healthy.”
In short, it is wise to include foods like yogurt in the diet, which is an inexpensive and effective way to maintain a healthy flora.
